Paints & Coatings
Paints and coatings are the terms given to the formulation of solid or liquid organic substances and certain additives and pigments in organic liquids, that after being applied on to a surface and the solvent having evaporated, forms a thin layer or film.
Paints and coatings are used to protect the painted articles and to embellish the coated surface.
AEROSIL® fumed silica is mainly used in paints and coatings to control rheological characteristics, as thixotroping agent, as anti-settling agent and to help in the prevention of rust and corrosion. AEROSIL® products should be added in concentrations of 0.5% - 2%.
