AEROSIL® fumed silica in glass

Evonik's AEROSIL^® is an ideal starting point in the demanding manufacture of optical fiber and components, crucibles, and a host of other advanced material products where silica purity is of paramount importance. Unlike powdered natural quartz, AEROSIL^® is an amorphous form of silica that has been recognized as generally safe for over 60 years. Evonik offers a broad portfolio of pyrogenic silicas with very special properties tailor-made to our customer's needs. For example, AEROSIL^® OX50, because of its broad particle size, higher tapped density, and ability to form high solids dispersions, is particularly suitable in the sol-gel process.

Evonik is the technical leader in the manufacture of metal oxides by flame hydrolysis. Under the trade name of AEROXIDE^®, Evonik offers a variety of metal oxides such as: Aluminum Oxide, Titanium Oxide, and Zirconium Oxide.
