AEROXIDE® and AEROSIL® in lighting applications

AEROSIL® fumed silica is a highly dispersed silicon dioxide. Hydrolysis of chlorosilanes in an oxygen-hydrogen flame, produces a fine, amorphous white powder. The extremely small primary particles result in a large specific surface area, ranging from 50 to 380 m2/g. The AEROSIL® process with other special oxides such as fumed aluminium oxide has enabled us to develop AEROXIDE® Alu C and our latest addition AEROXIDE® Alu 130. AEROSIL® and AEROXIDE® grades have high purity levels ideal for lighting applications.

LED

Light plays a valuable part of our daily routine and adopts a number of different roles for instance safety, convenience and style. Modern lighting systems still need to fulfil these functions however the modern lighting also needs to a new requirement environmentally friendly.

Evonik’s AEROXIDE® range is widely applied in fluorescent and compact fluorescent lighting. AEROXIDE® Alu C ensures maximum efficiency from the phosphor layer and increase the life of the lamp, resulting in lower energy costs and less need for to replace the bulb.

Evonik’s product portfolio consists of products which are environmentally friendly, high purity, and reliable.

New Product Development: Evonik has a broad range of developmental products for emerging lighting technologies such as Light Emitting Diodes (LED) or High Intensity Discharge lamps (HID). Please feel free to contact us for further information concerning dispersions and novel particle technology.

Evonik has recently expanded silica glass lenses under the SAVOSIL™ brand for high brightness LEDs. SAVOSIL™ lenses are made using the Evonik patented SiVARA™ Sol-Gel Technology, therefore combining the excellent properties of silica glass with the versatility to produce a broad range of designs and dimensions.
