AEROSIL® fumed silica and SIPERNAT® specialty silica are essential for silicone rubber. The Industry Information 2247 provides recommendations on the usage of Evonik products for typical silicone rubber applications. Please feel free to contact our technical service.
The Technical Information No. 1148 provides an overview of the properties of the products AEROSIL® R 104 and AEROSIL® R 106 in comparison with other AEROSIL® grades. In research, particular emphasis has been placed on their application in peroxide cross-linked HTV-silicone rubber and in 1K-silicone sealants.
The Technical Information No. 1209 introduces AEROSIL® R 8200, a specially treated silica developed to improve silicone rubber compounding efficiency. In order to meet customer requirements, the silica has been modified by several treatment stages that follow production and hydrophobization steps. This product is characterized by a particularly low thickening effect, while at the same time retaining strong reinforcing properties.

It is well known that AEROSIL® fumed silica can fine-tune many properties of silicone sealant compounds. It can impart the required rheological and mechanical properties in RTV–1C silicone sealant compounds. In addition to fumed silica, the use of AEROXIDE® fumed oxides and DYNASYLAN® silanes can provide unique properties in RTV–1C silicone sealant compounds. The technical details of these Evonik products developed for RTV–1 silicone sealant compounds will be discussed in this brochure.
