AEROSIL® and AEROXIDE® for catalyst carrier applications
AEROSIL® fumed silica and AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides are suitable for various areas of catalyst manufacturing. They serve:
as a main constituent of carrier materials providing controlled surface area and defined surface chemistry for the final catalytic system
as a silica source for zeolite synthesis
as a process aid, e.g. as a binder or rheology control agent during the forming process

In addition to AEROSIL® fumed silica and AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides, several recently developed fumed mixed metal oxide grades are available in commercial quantities.
The AEROSIL® fumed silica and AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides product portfolio allows for the tailored production of a variety of catalysts. Applications range from their usage as washcoat components for environmental exhaust catalysts to pure catalyst carriers for metal catalysts in the chemical industry.
Moreover Evonik has developed granulated versions of AEROSIL® fumed silica and AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides, which are available under the brand name AEROPERL®. AEROPERL® fumed granulated oxides combine the high purity of AEROSIL® and AEROXIDE® with reduced dust formation, increased tamped density and a controlled porosity.
