New Technical Information (TI) for AEROBATCH® U and PP available

Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) combine the good processing properties of thermoplastics with the elastomeric properties of rubber. Therefore TPE becomes more and more important in various industries, amongst others in the automotive industry. With the AEROBATCH® products we have developed additives based on AEROSIL® fumed silica which are specifically used for an improvement of the mechanical properties and an optimization of manufacturing processes

TI 1389 - AEROBATCH® PP for TPS (Thermoplastic Elastomer on Styrene basis) 
TPS are Thermoplastic Elastomers on basis of Styrene Block Copolymers (SBS, SEBS, SEPS, SEEPS und MBS). The TI 1389 describes the improvement of the mechanical properties of TPS with the support of AEROBATCH® PP. Typically thermoplastic processing methods such as injection molding or extrusion result in directional mechanical properties (anisotropy) of the final part. With the addition of AEROBATCH® PP isotropic properties can be achieved with a significantly improved tensile strength and elongation at break.

TI 1385 - AEROBATCH® U for TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)
TPU stands for Thermoplastic Elastomer on basis of Polyurethane. TPU products are well known for their very good mechanical properties. However, their use for various end applications is often limited since their low viscosity in extrusion processes (e.g. blown film, profiles) makes it difficult to process them. The TI 1385 shows amongst others how AEROBATCH® U significantly increases the melt viscosity, reduces the stickiness and increases the crystallization speed. This results in significant improvements regarding the processing of TPU, especially in extrusion and blow molding applications. Consequently AEROBATCH® U will open new applications for TPU.
